Hurricane Relief

Good afternoon, Vets Community!

I want to personally thank you for all that you've done to contribute to my little organization NY Loves PR and to the Hurricane Irma & Maria Relief Efforts by the the Mayor's Office . As of today, NY Loves PR was able to help over 30 individual families in Puerto Rico that lost essentially everything, as well as an all girls orphanage in Aguadilla - Hogar Regazo de Paz -   and we are sending out more shipments this week.

Thank you Zulieka!!

We are so proud of Zuleika, and happy to have such a generous person on our staff. All of our teachers jumped on board when Zuleika brought up the idea of doing a Kids For Kids Hurricane Relief Project. I put up a picture on our google+ page, but I can also add more to our Facebook page. Here are some more photos of our children decorating the water bottles - it became a really fun activity and the parents were glad we did it as well.

Hurricane Relief

The children and teachers at Lehman College Child Care Center are working with Lehman Life and the Lehman College Library to raise funds to purchase books for a school on the island of Barbuda.  We are sponsoring a 75/25 raffle, guessing the time Imagine teacher Filex will run his first full marathon in NYC this November.

Newark Federal Kids Care joins Mobjab in Nairobi for a Skype

We are very pleased to welcome Bernard Asanya and the children and teachers from Garden of Hope (Mobjap) Kenya into our Imagine, Kids for Kids family. Benard is the Founder and Director of Garden of Hope (GOH/ MOBJAP) in the Kibera slums. He started GOH in 2011 with only 9 kids- 4 orphans and 5 vulnerable. He rented a room that was also used as a church. He partitioned the room using polythene bags to create different classrooms.  Fast forward to 2015, his center had 216 kids. Today there are 316.  The children from Newark and Mobjab will look forward to an exciting year as Pen Pals.

Friendship Ball at the Veterans Hospital

Vets Kids is happy to announce that the first Kids for Kids Friendship Ball was a great success! We had dancing, crafting stations, raffle prizes, children-baked cookies and beautiful artwork the children made especially for the event. Together we raised $531 for our Kids for Kids program! A very big THANK YOU to our Vets Kids community for attending and supporting the event, both with time and donations.

Toy Drive for the children at Safe Horizon

The DUMBO children collected a total of 53 toys for the children at Safe Horizon during their holiday toy drive! Thank you to everyone for your participation. It feels good to know we are bringing lots of smiles to children this holiday season.
